A workshop hosted at the Athens City Hall was organized entitled “The impact of heatwaves to the City of Athens. Actions and synergies for a cooler city”. The program started with a greeting by the hostess of the ceremony, Dr. Lenio Myrivili, Chief Resilience Officer and City of Athens Council-member, and then the Project coordinator, Chris Kiranoudis gave an overview of TREASURE projects including its objectives and achievements. Then the partners presented their contributions: Prof. Klea Katsouyanni on mortality associated with high temperatures in Athens, Dr. Dimitra Founda on the analysis of a long timeseries of station data for Athens and Dr. Christos Giannakopoulos on the Predictions of the climatological models for Athens hot days. After the break, Dr. Iphigenia Keramitsoglou presented the Earth Observation services and live-demonstrated the portal and the mobile app. Then Dr. Nicos Bogonicolos from ARATOS Technologies showed the possibilities currently available by new technologies to bring the TREASURE information to the citizens.

Irene Skoula (C40 network) and Lenio Myrivili presented the activities of the City of Athens towards resilience emphasizing in their actions for cooler Athens. A panel discussion followed with relevant Vice-Mayors.

Then the Mayor of Athens, Giorgos Kaminis, and the President of the National Observatory of Athens, Prof. Kanaris Tsinganos, officially inaugurated the collaboration between the Municipality and the Research Centre, which is documented in a Memorandum of Understanding. The Mayor spoke warmly about TREASURE services and the mobile app which is in the disposal of the Athenians to download and use.
